This 3-day tour from Fes to Marrakech is one of the most beautiful ways to travel between Morocco's two famous imperial cities while experiencing the magic of the Sahara Desert. Instead of taking a long direct journey, you'll discover the incredible diversity of Morocco's landscapes, from the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains to the vast palm groves of the Ziz Valley and the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Your adventure begins in Fes and takes you through charming mountain towns and traditional Berber villages before arriving in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here you will enjoy a memorable camel trek across the dunes and spend the night in a traditional or luxury desert camp under a star-filled sky.
The journey continues through the interesting towns of Rissani and Erfoud and reaches the spectacular Todra Gorge and beautiful Dades Valley. On your last day, you will travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, cross the magnificent High Atlas Mountains, and arrive in Marrakech.
Your journey starts with an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes. As you travel south, the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains provide a stunning backdrop.
Your first stop is Ifrane, famous for its alpine-style architecture. The road continues through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to the famous Barbary macaque monkeys.
After lunch in Midelt, you will pass through the magnificent Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s largest palm groves. By late afternoon, you arrive at Merzouga. This is where your camel caravan awaits. Ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun sets in hues of orange and gold.
