What to Expect
Our overnight camel trek in Merzouga is a simple way to experience the Sahara without rushing.
Your experience starts in Merzouga, where you can leave your main luggage at our base and take a small bag with you for the night.
In the late afternoon, you'll meet your camel guide and set off into the Erg Chebbi dunes. The ride takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, with time to enjoy the scenery and stop for photos.
As the sun gets lower, the dunes change from golden yellow to deep orange. Stop on the dunes to watch the sunset before continuing to your desert camp.
When you arrive at camp, our team will welcome you with traditional Moroccan mint tea. Later, enjoy a Moroccan dinner, relax around the campfire and listen to local music and drumming.
Then comes the quietest part of the night. Step outside, look up at the stars and enjoy the Sahara away from the lights and noise of town.
The next morning, wake early for sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel. If you prefer not to ride back, an optional 4x4 transfer can be arranged.
Honest Note: This is real desert camping, not a hotel.

Overnight Camel Trek Itinerary
1
DAY 1 — Merzouga → Camel Trek → Sunset → Desert Camp
Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon and meet our local team.
You can leave your main luggage at our base and take a small overnight bag with you.
The camel trek normally starts in the late afternoon, depending on the season and sunset time. The ride to camp takes around 1 to 1.5 hours.
Take your time along the way, enjoy the dunes and stop for photographs. Before reaching camp, you'll have the chance to watch the Sahara sunset from the dunes.
You can also try sandboarding if conditions and time allow.
At camp, enjoy a glass of Moroccan mint tea before settling into your tent.
Dinner is served in the evening, followed by time around the campfire with local music and drumming.
If the sky is clear, take a few minutes outside to enjoy the stars.

DAY 2 — Sunrise → Breakfast → Return to Merzouga
Wake early for sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes.
It's a peaceful time to be in the desert and one of the moments many travelers remember most.
After sunrise, return to camp for breakfast.
Then choose how you'd like to return to Merzouga:

We did this trip as a family and loved every part of it. The dunes around Merzouga are incredible in person—especially in the late afternoon when the colors shift from gold to deep orange. Our kids were completely absorbed from the moment the camels set off.
