Our 2-day Zagora desert tour from Marrakech is designed for travelers who want to experience the Moroccan desert without spending several days on the road. You'll cross the High Atlas Mountains, visit Ait Ben Haddou, follow the Draa Valley toward Zagora, and arrive in time for a camel ride at sunset. After dinner at the desert camp, spend the evening around the fire before waking up to the first light over the dunes.
Departure: 8:00 AM from your hotel or riad in Marrakech.
Your journey begins with a scenic drive south through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. Travel across traditional Berber villages and winding mountain roads as you ascend the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass, reaching around 2,260 metres above sea level.
Continue to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's most iconic fortified villages. Known for its remarkable mud-brick architecture, this historic kasbah has served as a filming location for famous productions such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
After lunch near Ouarzazate, continue your adventure through the beautiful Draa Valley, Morocco's longest river valley, famous for its lush palm groves, traditional kasbahs, and stunning desert landscapes.
By late afternoon, arrive at the Zagora Desert, where your camel caravan awaits. Enjoy a peaceful camel trek across the desert as the sun slowly sets, painting the dunes with beautiful golden and orange tones.
Upon arrival at your traditional desert camp, settle into your tent before enjoying a delicious Moroccan dinner. In the evening, gather around the campfire for traditional Berber music, drumming, and storytelling beneath a sky filled with stars.

Wake up early to enjoy a peaceful sunrise over the Zagora Desert, one of the highlights of the tour.
After breakfast at the camp, ride your camel back and begin the journey toward Marrakech. You'll pass back through Ouarzazate and the High Atlas, with time for a few stops along the way. Depending on the day's timing, you can also visit Taourirt Kasbah or an Argan oil cooperative before continuing to Marrakech.
Arrival: You will arrive back at your Marrakech hotel or riad in the evening, usually around 7:00 PM.
